Plutonic Group Syncs :: Emma Gillespie - Mercury (2016)

Ӫ Mercury Ӫ

‘Pier Siamese’, an album by Emma Gillespie was born out of a 4-month road trip across America, from NYC to California, collecting musicians and experiences along the way. Pier Siamese was Emma’s first release since recording her EP ‘Underway’

Emma’s haunting vocals and darker brooding lyrics lay the groundwork of the track, ‘Mercury‘, as lilting, evocative electric guitar melodies play over an atmospheric drone sound that elicits a deep, melancholic mood. Wistful “whoa-ohs” backing vocals along with the added hum and echo of the strummed guitar, adds another layer of sadness and reflection – creating more a dimensional aspect.

Mercury‘ plays testament to Emma Gillespie, as she is clearly a seasoned musician, still growing and changing, but still making her own brand of delicate and sombre alternative rock.
