Plutonic Group Syncs :: Fireball FC - Nowhere Star (2004)

Nowhere Star

✰ Nowhere Star ✰

The story of Fireball FC is that of a band from Lyon, which, at the end of the year 2004 decided to reinject into the musical landscape a colourful pop, like the visions of Syd Barrett and trendy on a good Fuzz pedal standby –  combining 70s prog rock and 70s disco with astonishing ease.

It shouldn’t work, but it does, perhaps due to its mix of technicolour humour and bare-faced cheek.

The technicolour glam of ‘Nowhere Star‘, created as a tribute to Stanley Kubrick’s “2001, Space Odyssey”, serves up a vintage psychedelic groove with a contemporary twist. A wall of sound builds from a hazy circus organ intro to a Gothic progressive rock feel with its fuzzed-out riffs, spaced-out theremin, twinkly percussion, horn stabs, swirling Rhodes organ, steady drums and male vocals backed by a soaring, airy chorus.
