Plutonic Group Syncs :: Dr. Rubberfunk - Part of Me (Hot Stone LP)

Part of Me

▒ Part of Me ▒

The beauty of Dr Rubberfunk and his 1970s/early-1980s revivalry is that he’s got the confidence – and the ability – to truly go for it. He doesn’t need to stir in too many modernisms, so what we’ve got is something as gloriously and as stupidly in your face as almost anything from those bygone days of funk.

As best exemplified in the sizzling track,  ‘Part Of Me’,  a smooth, hypnotic soul/funk hybrid that fuses jazz, blues and hip-hop with an old school, soul-driven mid-tempo Balearic groove featuring soulful female/harmonic vocals, slick and thumpin’ bass,George Benson styled guitar licks, a cool Hammond, steady drums & subtle percussion.

Dr Rubberfunk takes his listeners on a journey of snapshots from other decades via a beautifully crafted album of songs and sounds, moods and melodies – a stone cold aural massage!
