Something Awaits

Árni Vilhjálmsson is an established artist, musician and actor in Iceland. He was a member and frontman of the legendary electro party-band FM Belfast before he quit to focus on his solo career. Now he is preparing a new album under the name Árni Vil that will be released early 2019.

His track, ‘Something Awaits‘ is a downtempo-tinged indie guitar folk song, co-written with Arni’s longtime collaborator, Teitur Magnússon, features layers of lightly strummed acoustic guitars, a deep bass guitar and hypnotic jew harp – complete with a Mandolin solo @2’54 – all of which builds @3’27 to a stompin’, uplifting chorus of harmonic vocal hooks of ”It’s not over until you start over”…

Supported by the dreamlike vocals of Jarþrúður Karlsdóttir and Sóley Tómasdóttir, the impeccable but wild drumming of producer Þórir Bogason, Gylfi Sigurðarson’s hypnotic jew harp and percussions, the bass of Thomas Stanklewicz, and Albert Halldórsson’s soft guitar, Árni produces a relaxed and collected atmosphere, where—somewhat paradoxically—anything can happen.
