We are proud to represent ‘We Close Our Eyes‘ for sync licensing placements. This is the re-record of the Go West hit single with the band controlling the master rights.

An upbeat electro disco pop piece, recognizable by its infectious synthesizer hook, ‘We Close Our Eyes‘ was the first single from their eponymous album. The combination of Simmons drums and a catchy cool Moog bass line imbued the track with a solid funky groove.

When Go West achieved singles success with ‘We Close Our Eyes‘ in 1985, just about everything involved with the record was impressive. The subsequent hit singles and Go West album confirmed that Peter Cox and Richard Drummie were not only a very talented pair but also that the production of their records is outstanding.

The production of Go West’s compositions excels in various ways. The records are very bright, dynamic, and have a contemporary sound. Each piece incorporates elements of both live and sequenced / sampled/ synchronised music with great skill.

The debut album by the English pop duo brought the pair into the limelight. Soon thereafter, they scored a string of top 20 hits around the globe. “We Close Our Eyes“, the most successful single, featured the band’s enjoyable, new wave-inflected ’80s dance-pop. The track spent fourteen weeks on the UK Singles Chart, peaking at number 5 in April 1985.

The video for the song became an early favorite on MTV. As a result, the band were voted “Best Newcomers” at the 1986 BRIT Awards.

Arif Mardin described the Go West sound, in essence as ‘Modern Motown’ after hearing an early version of ‘We Close Our Eyes’. Everything to do with the band’s music and presentation was slick and professional; at times standing head and shoulders above a vacuous landscape of vinyl wastage.
